During 2007, the services sector grew 19.5% compared to 2006 and the forecast is for 11% yearly for the next five years. “One of the drivers of growth is the increasing adoption of outsourcing services. For the full story, click here Nuevo Leon ( Mexico) Will Be Leader in Eco-Energy By Veronica Ayala (May 11th, 2008) Within a 3 months period, Nuevo Leon will be the Latin-American leader in generating electricity by means of methane gas produced by organic waste found in the trash . This will happen in august, once the plant operated in Salinas Victoria by Simeprode raises its energy production to 71%. This way, upon arrival of five generators this week, the installation of the governmental entity will be able to generate up to 12, 7 megawatts by hour, surpassing Sao Paulo, Brazil; Buenos Aires, Argentina and San Jose, Costa Rica plants. For instance, in the United States, the plants have a capacity of up to 44.76 megawatts per hour and last December it was estimated they had around 445 projects with an overall generation of 11 millions megawatts per hour. Not only is the Simeprode plant in Salinas Victoria the first one of its kind to be installed in the country but it is also the first to enhance its capacity in Latin-America The plant director Jorge Padilla emphasized the State of Nuevo Leon contribution to reduce emissions of methane in the atmosphere – a greenhouse effect gas –. Up until now, the plant has already consumed more than 1.1 millions metrics tons of this gas. Currently, the Monterrey I plant which started operations in November 2003, has a 7.42 megawatts per hour apacity. It can generate from 25 to 50% of the total public street lighting in the metropolitan area and 82% of the total subway energy consumption. When the Project Monterrey II starts, the plant will satisfy the electric needs of both subway lines and will supply the energy for 50 to 70% of the total street lighting. The mass affluent segment – those with liquid assets between US$ 100,000 and US$ 1mn – grew more than 30% in 2007, with wealth managed in this niche rising 19.3% to US$ 19.3B.
